Joseph Fralinger took over a concession stand on Applegate Pier in Atlantic City around 1884, which is when he begun to perfect his very own taffy recipe. After toying around with a few flavors, he eventually had the most to offer with 25 different varieties. As far as salt water taffy on the Jersey Shore goes, the rest is history.

Fralinger's is still a Jersey native favorite for this traditional boardwalk treat, but they have many other original recipes as well.
